Hiya all
Im looking for some advice or recomendations

Ive just upgraded my sons psp from 2.71 upto 3.03 thinking that this is what i need to do to downgrade??? (have i lost you allready??)

I am wanting to play homebrew games but not sure if im going in the right direction

what is 3.90 and 1.50??? do they both support homebrew

do i also need to but gta or lumines to do what i want?/

Hope someone can help im more confused then ever

check out the guides in the mod and firmware forums. i recently modded my psp using a hardmodded pandora battery that i made. this was the easiest way to install custom firmware on my psp. i suggest using a program called psp grader v.02 its really simple and straight forward. it will install custom firmware 3.90m33-3. you do need a pandora batt to do the install though. there are psp game exploits like lumines and GTA if you cant get a pandora batt. it just seemed more complicated that way so i just made my own batt. anyways this site has alot of really good guides to help you out. good luck

a pandora battery is a psp battery that has been modded to allow the psp to boot up into a service mode. there are basically two ways to make one. you can 'softmod' your psp battery, (to do this you will need a psp that already has custom firmware on it) by using a pandora batt creator software. using this method you can revert your battery back to normal mode from service mode.
what i did was 'hardmod' my psp battery (which is kinda permanent) then i went and bought a new psp battery from best buy to use normally. to hardmod a battery you have to VERY CAREFULLY open up the battery case and sever a tiny pin on the side of a tiny chip on the battery motherbaord. this was the hardest part of the whole psp hacking process because the pin is so small and its very easy to ruin the battery in the process. it can also easily blow up in your face and start a fire. if your going to try this method do alot of research first. do not use any metal objects whatsoever to open the battery. i used a guitar pick to crack the case and then i just kind of picked away at the pin with a needle until it broke off. theres a bunch of video tutorials on youtube you can check out.

You can downgrade from 3.03 using THIS downgrader. You will need an UNPATCHED version GTA:LCS though, see the link for more details. It will probably be easier than hardmodding though, as you should be able to get one from a second hand game shop.
