Patapon: Stuck at Lava

I'm not completely sure if it's lava or what, but after killing the 1st boss in the game, there's a stage where all my guys seem to burn up and die instantly, even after I've gotten the defensive chant. I haven't played the game in a few months after I got stuck here so hopefully you guys know what I'm referring to, but any help is appreciated.
