Hello, my first post.

Recently I've made a cleanup of the codec/filters in my PC, using both GSpot and Codec Tweak Tool as h264 files weren't playing.
Among defective entries, there was the .h264 one (and it was removed).

Now, mkv/h264 files will play ok (ffdshow video decoder), but the demuxed h264 video won't (MPC, Zoom player). VLC is ok as it doesn't makes use of external codec/filters.

Uninstall and reinstall of the CCCP pack didn't solve the problem.

Thanks for your help.

To simply view/play the video (demuxed from the container), you can try 'DGAVCDEC'.
It's main use is to create an index file that can load the video into VirtualDub via an AVISynth script.

Perhaps the CoreAVI codec would work, but it costs money and I don't have a pressing need to use it.

Thanks for your reply, Attar

As I've posted, VLC (and Mplayer also), with internal codecs will play the file.

I'm just looking for the reason MPC, Zoom, that uses external codecs won't, as the codecs are there (Installing CORE didn't help)

I can't get anything to play demuxed h264 - the only way I can play it is if it's in the container.

Yes, this seems to be the case with external codecs players.
