Ok so maybe this was mentioned before sorry if it was but i looked and looked and havent got a definate answer.

Ok i have installed 3 d2Ckeys and would just like to get some clarification, the jumpers should be set say JP2 for PAL etc. right my question is why didnt they just leave the key region free, ie. normal install dont solder the L leg and dont set any jumpers, is this a safety feature so no1 will brick the wii beacuse it will only be able to play backups from there region if the jumper is set?

That's probably the reason. so that people could have the choice to take the risk or no. Defaulting to "not region free setting" is probably for safety as most people dont know as much as people in forums know and they'd easily brick their wiis
