I've currently backed up Pirates of the Caribbean and used Decrypter 3.91 and it was fine but i forget now what setting are you supposed to decrypt on [FILE F or ISO> READ R?
Also I went to back up Underworld and i used the new copy of DVD shrink where as the last movie i used teh older previous version and now on my JVC Progressive scan player it shows little squares and the scenes are messed up but when i pop it in my pc i dont see the blotchy little squares pop. Anyone know why, I figure it's because I decrypted in the wrong mode or it's becasue of the new DVD shrink I used automatic compression no re-authoring i wanted the menus.
......also how many of you use deep analysis with DVD Shrink and does it reaslly help the quality could that be my problem because it did not use deep analysis on the movie with teh blotches
You can use the ISO mode (read, write) in DVD Decrypter only if the content of the DVD is less than 4.38GB. If the movie is larger than that, you have to rip in File-mode.
If you use DVD Shrink, you don't have to use DVD Decrypter though (except for a few exceptions), since DVD Shrink does both the ripping and the compression in one.
The blocks in the picture might be result of too heavy compression. You shouldn't compress to less than 70% (65% on some movies) or so from the original size, elsewise you will usually have unacceptably poor image quality.
Another reason for those blocks, i.e. pixelation might be due to bad media. If you use cheap bulky discs, you might get pixelaton, stuttering and breaks in some dvd players.
Nevertheless, my guess is that you used too much compression, especially if you did not use the deep analysis mode in DVD Shrink. It will improve the image quality, especially with heavy compression.
I always use deep analysis, also with very moderate compression ratios.
Use Decrypter in the file mode unless you are going to burn with it, then you would use the ISO read followed by burning using ISO write. DVD-5 movies only can be done this way.
You are adding an un-needed step if you are using Decrypter with Shrink.
You can still help your overall compression without re-authoring by selecting the extra features, selecting "ratio" and apply more compression using the on-screen slider. Do the same with the menu.
Deep analysis allows a more accurate estimation of the size of your movie so less overall compression will be needed to fit the movie on your disc.
Your blotchy little squares/messed up scenes may be caused by too much compression.
How much compression did you use?
OR caused by a media problem. Are you using high quality blank discs? Did you inspect your source disc for damage?
Ya thanks guys, ya i used 66% compression i believe and or maybe 71 im not sure but anyway i didnt use analysis. Im using Pine Discs right now and have burnt a movie befrore no probs. I think my prob is solves. Thankya gents.
