i used to be really into the psp scene but i traded it in a while back now for the cash, back in the days when custom firmware was only just becoming reality

so today i decided i could get a psp again and bout one second hand from gamestation, its got firmware 3.71 on it, its the only psp i have and im looking for a softmod preferably to install custom firmware/downgrade which ever one i can do

so if you lot know if and how i can do this any help will be appreciated,
thank you

you need a psp with cfw or 1.50 fw to soft mod as it can only be done through homebrew.

id suggest getting a datel tool battery its ready made so no need for hard moding

just so you know you need to make a mms to run with the pandoras battery this can be done on a ofw psp so you can start that.

hope that helps get you back in the swing of things

theres no way of using a downgrader like that of 3.03, 3.50... on fw 3.51< or soft moding the battery without a cfw psp or 1.50 psp

datel is a good option

Use THIS guide. Its really easy to follow, you shouldn't have any problems. Be aware though that it may not work on a PC running vista, so an XP machine will be needed.

Your battery is working, it's putting your PSP into service mode. The problem is your MMS. Are you using Vista to make the MMS? Try using XP is that's the case, also make sure you're using a decent guide to make it (I think I have it in my sig).

If you have 64-Bit XP this can cause issues as well.

Try using a combination of diffrent memory Sticks and or PC's. Sometimes using a diffrent MS will work. Sometimes going to a family member/friends house and using their PC will work as well.
