will dvd shrink let me put several dvd's about 4.5gb each onto one dvd?
if so how much quality loss would there be?

There will be a great quality loss. How many DVD are several?
With blanks costing around 30 cents each it's really not worth losing the quality. Now if you convert them to AVI, then you can put several movies on one DVD but converting to AVI still results in quality loss.

Agreed. Everything dialysis said is spot on. Are movies with poor picture quality really watchable and enjoyable ? The choice is yours.

i was thinking 5 but not if theres a considerable quality loss which sounds like there will be,
does avi play in normal dvd players

dvd players are so cheap now might be worth getting one that plays avi files
