A while ago I semi-bricked my 1.9s-flashed Wii. Having recently purchased Wii Fit and knowing that it contains a System Update on the disk (it states so in the instruction manual), I was hoping I would be able to unbrick my Wii with a proper American Firmware v. 3.2. It seems, however, that the GCOS 1.4 disk I have does not really save the changes to the Wiikey chip and every time I turn off the automatic update protection it resets to being turned on.
So I tried a few things. Tried re-flashing with 1.9b/g - no change, problem remains. Updated back to 1.9s using a newly-downloaded Firmware update and newly-downloaded WiiKey GCOS Disk 1.4. Now the problem is such that the GCOS disk reports that my update protection is turned off, does not seem to save changes to tat if I switch the update protection to "ON" (does not save changes in other options either). No luck.
Mind you, my WiiFit, as well as backups still boot (with some intermittent disk read errors which is nothing unique to a modchipped Wii, I hear). My only and most upsetting issue is that my Wii's calendar is incorrectly set and I cxan not update the firmware over the internet or through a WiiFit disk.
Have any of you encountered a similar problem and/or, perhaps, found a solution to this annoying issue?
