Hi guys,
I heard quite often people saying that these two chips are made from the same team.
I accept this statement in the sence they are two very good and reliable products. However, I cant stop thinking about some striking differences that leads to say that they cannot be from the same team.
First, the D2Ckey cannot be configured or upgraded as the Wiikey. Though this statement can be answered by saying that D2CKey is versatile and does not need any upgrade (fair enough).
The second argument is how come WiiKey offers the option to dump games to SD cards and D2CKey doesnt provide this functionnality.
Just wanted to know your impression about it.

Yes they are made by the same team.

Wiikey and D2CKey are totally different modchips and built for 2 different drive boards.

Since DMS/D2A/D2B DVD drives are built different then the D2C DVD drives the Modchips as well are built different. This is why there is differences between the 2.

D2CKey is the 1st Gen modchip for D2C drives built by the team. The options for this Modchip was limited due to lack of knowledge of how the new D2C boards worked. Since then the team and other modchip teams have found different ways to mod the new boards to make it more efficient and offer more options (JTAG programer/DVD upgrade/Setup disc).

As of now the D2Pro (2nd Gen D2C Modchip) made by WiiKey/D2CKey team has similar options that Wiikey offers.

So the team offers numerous types of Modchips that are compatible on different types of drive boards...

Wiikey = DMS D2A D2B

D2CKey & D2Pro = D2C

NEW D2Pro ver. 2 = D2C2 drive board.
