Can the D2Pro/V2 mod it? Ive seen some info that it can be modded but has the chip came out, and is it a new chip or same chip (D2CPro w/ SPI?) with new firmware.
thanks
Edit: A chip site says the D2Pro w/ spi (9wire) will work with it soon.
Where has D2C2 wiis been seen? California/US? UK? Australia?

There is no way to see if your chipset is D2C2, unless u install a chip and find it not working. There are a few fourms saying how to tell, but is not 100% reliable. From what ive heard there was people saying there is a metal clip thing near the dvd spinal. There was also someone saying that newer wiis only have one line of text on the D2C chip (some say tis 90% reliable).
To answer some of my questions. D2Pro new chip has been released, the only difference is that the firmware is upgraded. If u have a older D2Pro you can upgrade the firmware by, buying a D2prog to program the chip. Or install the chip in a D2C or older compabible wii and update, then remove it and put it in the D2C2 wii. These wiis are released in USA, Canada. THese are also starting? to appear in Korea and Taiwan.

K as far as im aware "VCBC" the only chip that will do these consoles is the new D2PRO9, according to there website quote:
"* "d2c2" refers to the second generation d2c chipset where the nr reader mode has been disabled. This feature is currently only available with chips displaying the d2c2 compliant sticker."
hmm its not very clear, i know i have 8xD2PRO9s on order with this new sticker on them, not sure if they have a slightly diffrent hardware makeup or jst firmware upgrade!! the fact that they state only the new D2PRO9 with this sticker makes me believe a firmware upgrade on the older D2pros or even older d2Pro9's might not be suffise, as i said its not really clear at all.
On another note the older standard D2pros ar not dvd upgradeable unless you solder the flash add on. so basically a programmer is needed anyway as v1.1b needs to be loaded on to make it dvd-upgradable ,catch 22.
@finook
Yea, from the D2Pro team it seems like a new chip, but from what i read its not and just a firmware upgrade. Where did you buy your chips from?
So there are 2 kinds of D2Pro out there. The D2Pro without the SPI(9 wire/disk upgrade)(you can buy the upgrade chip). Then the D2CPro9 which is the D2Pro with SPI. And the D2Pro9 with the sticker, which is the same but with newer firmware for D2C2.
I wonder if the old chip without the SPI be able to have this update. Oh well, it's not my problem.
