Sorry if this is already posted but i couldnt find anything similiar.
I am looking for a mod chip for the 360 but to be honest i cant even find one... not even google... is there a mod chip for the xbox 360? preferably non-solder but i am willing to solder the chip in. i am looking around the £35 mark or lower. i am in the uk and need a reliable one that is universal with all the different versions of xbox 360 (elite, premium etc and firmware differs)

does one exist?

cheers

Most people flash their 360s with iXtreme. Look in the stickies for more info.

Actually flashing is pretty easy if you take your time and check everything to see if its going right. But personally if you dont have any experience at all with getting into your computer and connecting a DVD drive or something,it might go wrong for you.The chip looks good but you need to know how to solder. The diagram for the chips installation actually confuses me.So to me,flashing would be easier but cost some more money cause if you dont have any sata ports or a compatible burner, you would have to buy a native Sata pci card and then a sata wire and the dvd burner. The chip requires only for you to install it and have a dvd burner and the other appropriate stuff for copying games. So flashing is easier but if you dont have the right components in your pc,it may cost more. The chip has a risk for bricking your dvd drive by wrong soldering. So its your call and if youd rather go with the chip, good luck.

i think if i do chip xbox 360's i will use a mod chip and not flashing as i only have a laptop and no sata stuff etc... also the flashing says it only does hitachi?

anyway yes i have fairly good soldering school as i have taken an electronics gcse and made various project to A* grade. i will use the chip if i can get hold of one but i think i may tell people i dont chip the xbox 360 for banning of xbox live and the rest...

so yeah thanks for your help i might use the chip but the flashing is a no no

cheers

Well you apparently didn't read to clearly. A chip is going to set you back a lot more than the $20 SATA card, and yes they make them for laptops. Also you can flash all consoles, not just Hitachi's. Lastly how do you think mod chips work, they alter your firmware. You're just essentially installing a chip to flash your firmware, why not bypass the chip and go straight to flashing?

the nme 2.0 doesnt edit the firmware

" Your original firmware stays untouched and intact at any time when using the NME-360.
There is no need for any firmware reading or flashing."

Also i dont think flashing is the way for me... id be scared id brick the xbox and i wouldnt want to be held responsible... if i can get a soldering iron and some solder and wire id be able to do that chip quite easy... id just need to know how to dismantle everything ...

so yes NserUame i dont think flashing is the way for me... ill look around for a NME 2.0 and buy one...

ok i started to see the sense in flashing the xbox and looking at the programs it isnt as long or as difficult as i first thought... so i am buying screwdrivers to open up the xboxs as i type but also i was wondering... flashing needs that SATA pci card... i have an advent 9415 and it doesnt have a spare pci slot... also its under warranty so there is no option for me to install a pci card... is there anything else that would work? for example a usb > sata like this or this?
cheers

It doesnt matter if your under warranty, your okay for installing any hardware you want in your pc.Except if your pc is a laptop then obviously you cant install a PCI card. And yeah flashing is easy for some dvd drives. Also, you can flash any dvd drive in the xbox 360 up to now.Except one which is a new one discovered at www.360mods.net which you wont have a chance of having. It sounds like you can solder really good and if you dont have a desktop pc,just do the chip.It supports all dvd drives with added logic so its smart when microsoft tries to read your 360s firmware..It reports it as normal and fine. Its your call.

Ok so you think that if i got the right screwdrivers to open the console and the cd drive i could just install the chip easier than the flashing procedure? and it cant be detected by XBOX live?

thanks for the info

buy the non RAID version of the VIA SATA chipset for $12 shipped, then just free up a PCI slot, don't make this harder than it is.

Yes,if you open up the xbox 360 and you are sure of what your doing and have basic knowledge of all the xbox 360 internal components, and inside the dvd drive, yes you can do it.And this chip I told you about lets microsoft know you have the right firmware on when they update over xbox live.So when there is an update, your 360 will be reported as the normal Dvd drive firmware.Im not completely sure but I know you can depend on this chip.So go ahead and try.

one thing i wanted to know my friend knows how to flash the system but he told me i needed a certain model number so i've been looking everywhere for this answer what type of model number does it have to be because he tried doing on his friends elite and it didn't work and he gave me the guide on to flash it. but it doesn't say what model number. see the thing i haven't bought the 360 i'm planning on buying next week for i can flash it. but he also was telling me that microsoft have been sending new systems that can't be fleshed nor modded so i'm worried that i get one of those instead also since i don't the what model numbers to look for in order to buy it.

anubisx2, don't cross post your problems as it confuses those who are trying to help. Stick with your original thread here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/668731#4068557

Well I know you can get banned but Im saying that when I went to the website,it said the chip has added logic.I havent seen it in action or anything. And I never think that youll be 100% secure on LIVE with a chipped console.I just meant that if you use this chip,it can be reliable as to all the features listed for it.And Im sure MS will come up with new ways to crack down on flashed consoles besides reading peoples FW they have.if Con-nah only has this option as a way for his 360 to read backups, then this can be a good chip to install. And yes he can get banned on Live eventually with MS's new ways.Im just sticking to what the safety features are as they are listed on its website.
