My 1st attempt at this hope someone will share some knowledge. I have a v4 ps2 I just picked up {at the right place at the right time} I guess you could say a network adapter and a retail version of swap magic. I have an extra 80 gig seagate hdd' So my question is . Is there anyway to load my games onto the hardrive without using hdloader. I got the loader disc with the adapter but it is the sony version. I have read alot of forums and feel comfortable with a mc exploit but can I load games onto the hd with S.M.
I dont mind alittle studying, but would like to know if it can even be done

Without HD Loader? Well you could go for a HD Loader clone (like HD Advance). Better idea would be to load the .ELF of HDL with Swapmagic.

Thank's HG 27 can I get the elf from the net. would cog swap work.I would like to us a thumb drive and plug into the usb port on theps2 or just hook up the hd to my desk top and put the file on that way

You can get latest HD Loader elf over at sksapps.com
Cogswap will work, also thumb drive will be enough.

NOT HOME YET. i DOWNLOADED HDL ISO OF HDAdvance CD at the skyapps site CAN i BURN THAT TO DISC AND USE Swap Mag. to load The iso of HDAdvance to the hdd. Also got the newest hdl elf
Just wondering how use the hdd as if I had hdla installed
without a mod chip

Having HDL installed on the HD won't do you much good. Without a modchip that supporst DEV modes (DEV2 in particular) you won't be able to boot it upon start up.

For you it would go something like this:
-Load the burned HDL disc with swapmagic
-Select game
-Play

Or
-Install exploit with swapmagic (with UlaunchELF as BOOT.ELF)
-Trigger exploit with a PSX game
-Load HDL elf off (MC, HD, or USB drive) via UlaunchELF
-Select game
-Play

Either a Matrix Infinity (from modchip.bz), Crystal Chip 2.0 (foundmy.com), or a DMS4 Pro (only place I know is consolesource.com).

Those chips are all top of the line, if you would prefer something not as pricey go with the Duo 3 Ultra (modchip.bz). Reliable chip with DEV modes (runs for about $15-$20).

Hey hg 27 Or any one else out ther. I bought the DUU Ultra chip.
Well I think I really Screwed up. First off, When using the S.M. I could Not get the tray open I could feel the cog just fine I was able to move it to left and back again but the trey would not move even with a little force. So dumb a.... me figured I would just take the cover off since I was waiting for the chip. Well I was able to see that I sliding the right peice but the tray was just locked it worked fine pushing the eject. In fact you can see the laser move up and down by pushing the button It moved the same using the slide tool, but the tray was locked.
OK this where IT happened I figure I would just try a backup that I had burned since the cover was off. Well as I was going to my tv to hook it up My dog jumped on me and knocked everything out off my hands and the ribon that goes from the cover to the unit pulled out of the unit It diesn't look torn or broke but I have no Idea how or even if this can be fixed.
If it can be fixed after I instal the chip will I even need to run S.M. any more.j Can anyone advise me on what can naybe be done to fix this promblem i'll spring for lunch if any one has good news.
