you can use that drive yes, but you have to modify the fw on the drive.

sh-d162d (IDE) and the sh-d163b (SATA)
flashed with Kreon firmware. Those are the newest two drives.
the SH-D163A and SH-D163C will still work as long as you flash them with the kreon firmware made for that drive.
