I'm stumped and could use some suggestions. I have over 150 burned Wii games with the majority of them on TDK -R burned with ImgBurn. I only download from a.b.games.wii. My mod chip is a DC2Key.

Starting about 2 weeks ago, none of the newly downloaded and burned games will work on the Wii. All of my previously burned games work fine, including Mario Kart, Brawl, etc. I'll either get the unable to read disc error, or on occasion will get a message that an error has occurred and to eject the disc and power off the Wii.

I had thought the problem was the new version of ImgBurn that I installed because it seemed to be right around that time. However Nero burns don't work and I also used my laptop to burn with Nero just to rule out an issue with my desktop pc. Still no luck.

All the ISOs check out with Wii Update Manager too and are all NTSC, same as my Wii.

Thanks for reading and any thoughts.

Hi there, my pal had a similar issue and was completely stumped. It turned out it was the disks she was using. Even though she had used them before and they worked fine, she bought a new pack of the same disks and all of them failed (could have been a dodgy pack of disks or maybe the dye had been changed on that particular brand). However, she bought some verbatim and surprise surprise all the games now play. Just a thought. Maybe try some other disks in case its the same issue.

I cant remember off hand what brand stopped working, but i know she was frustrated for a couple of months over this.

Thanks for the thought. I'll try different discs tonight. I'm thinking and it may be possible that I opened up a new 100 pack of DVDs recently and that may have been around the time the problems began.

I'll report my findings this evening.

I just tried an Imation DVD+R DL disc as it was the only other brand disc I have right now. But this disc is from the same batch of discs that I used for burning Brawl. I got the error message that an error has occurred and to eject the disc and power off the Wii. Inserting the disc a 2nd time just gave me the unable to read disc error.

So it would seem something else is causing the problem since it is not the media. Anyone see this problem before? All my other backups work fine, it's just anything downloaded in the past 2 weeks will not work.

that brand is really cheap so its deff the media. had the same probs using memorex. some old memorex work fine but no new games work on memorex now. switched to verbatim dvd-r and everything is fine. and on dual layer i used dvd+r verbs from singapore cause the made in india disc gave me problems with brawl. the dual layer memorex worked fine aswell.

I will buy some some Verbatims and other media to try. Just odd that all the prior burns still work fine...but I hope it is just a media issue. I'm also going to download an iso right to my laptop and do another burn from there just to rule out a PC issue.

I'll post the results.

do you even have time to play 150 games? sheesh. But yea it's a media problem 100%. Verbatims will do you.

I don't, but the kids do. I just get caught up in the collecting since I have a 30/10 internet connection. Kind of like my modded PS2 - hundreds and hundreds of games, but I personally only played Raw Vs. Smackdown.

Around here (North Carolina) I often find Sony and Verbatim often on sale at least once every 2 or 3 weeks.

50pk would be $12-14 and sometimes I would see a 100pk for $22.

This stores are bestbuy, officemax, staples, and such.

If you live in the States, check your Sunday newspaper and see what is on sale for the week. If none of the top tier quality dvds aren't on sale, good chance it will be the next week. I often find myself always buying a pack or two and now I have over 1200 blank Verbatim and 1500 Sony. I need to go on a burning rampage.

~Edit~

Just checked bestbuy. Till Sunday you can buy 50pk 16x Sony DVD-/+R for $12.99 each.

The last 6 packs of TDKs I bought always jump around in quality. I say it is best to not buy TDKs anymore. Never know where it is going to be made next and what class it is.

bah, kids these days don't know how good they have it.

When I was a wee kid me and my brother would BEG our parents for a super nintendo, finally they got us one. We were more than delighted to spend our days playing games like mickey's magical quest and earthworm jim, I must have beat that mickey mouse game at least 3 times (which is an accomplishment for a kid). Games that would not even make it to the cheapest of bargain bins.

Fast forward a decade or so and now kids have a wii with 150 games to choose from lol, and no doubt they are bored of every single one after 5 minutes haha.

I finally got around to buying other media and I found a 50 pack of Sony DVD-R on clearance and I'm back to successful burns again! The DVD-Rs are labeled as Sony AccuCore 1x-16x.

Much thanks to everyone who told me to try new media. Just odd that suddenly the TDKs stopped working - but like someone pointed out, it was probably a different batch or different dye or whatever in this bundle.

Thanks again.
