My psp will not detect my memory stick.

I have a psp fat 3.51 hoping to downgrade to 1.50 but i cant because my psp memory stick isnt detected. I used a 1 gb first and it didnt detect, then I used a 4gb that didnt detect either so i know its not the memory sticks fault, if anyone one has an idea what is wrong with my memory stick please help me. Thank you.

Well i live in Canada so you know the ordinary Future shop and Best buy Walmart but i bought my 1 gb from futureshop i also bought my 4gb from FS
