Well.. I have a psp and the problem is that the screen is oh so very dark and not light at all.. its like theres not enough light coming from the screen.Ive tried adjusting the brightness and everything as well.Im sure its from replacing my screen because my psp was bricked (eh ) and i didnt have a pandoras battery any more or anything that could fix it so I thought about my old psp.

I have an old psp but the screen is broken so I bought a new one a while ago (back then i wasn't into lcd replacing and homebrew and stuff) So anyways the new one bricked as i stated above and i took the screen from my new psp and replaced it into the old psp.Now the sound and everything is working so well but the psp screen is very dark and irritating to see.It looks like a plain black screen but if you look closely you can see very dark icons and wallpaper in the back.Is it my psp lcd's back light? Is it because i have a faulty lcd? Please help me.

Sorry for the lengthy post.I wouldn't mind having to go and find a new lcd on ebay but i would rather fix it for free.I have all the tools I need.i've fixed and downgraded many psp's before but never came across this...(fixing my freinds psp and helping them in downgrading and whatnot)

thanks in advance to anyone that tries to help.

Hey... sup lol... nothing special in my sig... =P

sounds like a back light issue... you could try reseating the ribbon connector and see if it works. If you do try and reseat it do this first... take a flash light and shine the light through the ribbon cable... this will allow you to see the traces much better than with no light... what your looking for is bright spots/cracks on any of the traces... that would indicate a broken trace and explain why the screen won't work... I say this because its VERY easy to sever a trace just by removing and replacing the ribbon connection incorrectly.

There can be 2 reasons why that happened!

1) If you hack custom firmware maybe you bricked it
2) If you dont have custom firmware maybe your accidently broke and disabled your screen

these 2 reason are the most typical!

You can't replace the screens from different motherboards. Your new PSP (probably a TA-082) screen is incompatible with your old PSP (probably a TA-079) because of different power supplies. I tried it once, and the same thing happened to me, but I switched back, and it went back normal again.

Leadbarron I know its not that because I have switched the screens 3 times back and fourth from those two psps and they have been succesful.Jcool123 those two reason are definately not whats wrong because I said I can see the icons in the back but they are just VERY Very dark, and I also have custom firmware.Should i have mentioned both my psps are the Phat versions? As for 07anto07 and shultz Ill try those both right now. Thanks anyways though..

f12esh, I know that IS the problem, because I have both a TA-079 and a TA-082 in my residence, and switching them gave the same problem. Either we are both making the same mistake or something weird is going on.
