Hi I am a newbie and was wondering how to get rid of the protection on some vhs tapes when converting to svcd{this is for my own use)thanks for the info

It depends on your TV capture card -- if it supports Macrovision (the copy protection) as most of the cards do, your only hope is to find a hacked driver for the card from somewhere that gets rid of the Macrovision. Or if your card supports RGB in and your VCR supports RGB out, use that one, as RGB signal doesn't have Macrovision normally.
