i wish to buy a psp. but the problem is that i am not sure wether the slim edition of psp will be able to play games from memory stick

yes, you can play iso's on the slim. you will need to use a Pandora battery + MMS combo to move to Custom Firmware to allow you to do it though...see the guide HERE.
