so a guy at work asked me to fix his psp. supposedly it was flashed to custom firmware but i can for the life of me tell if it is or not. it shows 2.6 in the sys info and i cant get it into recovery mode. so im assuming its not flashed.

is there any way to get it up to 3.9m33 firmware without needing a umd or a pandora battery?

yes, there is a way. Use the 2.71 downgrader or 2.80 downgrader. Remember to check if it's a TA motherboard.
