unable to download on live while playing games

whenever i download stuff on live, i can't proceed to play the game or else the download will automatically cancel. i'm pretty sure that this problem is curable, but i just don't knw where i should tinker with the box. and help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

there is no way around this if you are doing somthing else on live. if not just hit the guide button. or if on xbl if you hit the guide button before playing on live it will pause the download for you to resume later.
