How do I stream mkv files to my xbox 360

I am trying to play an MKV video file on my xbox 360 via a stream. I am doing the window media player method, but it won't play it. I want to play HD on my HD tv using my 360. Any solutions?

I'm reading on other forums, that the 360 can't do .mkv files. You can read here:

Looks like you may need to convert the .mkv to something that the 360 can recognize.

I've used a Program called TVersity, where it will stream any media to the 360! So for the .mkv, it will be converting the file, while you are watching it!

I personally haven't tried HD Movies with TVersity, so I'm not sure! I wouldn't think you would loose any quality from it!

I got it to detect. I had to turn off my connection to my media player, but it won't play the mkv file because it doesn't support mkv files.

I have been telling people this: best way to play HD .mkvs on your TV is to just hook up computer to TV with VGA or DVI. Save you a huge headache and time of converting and such.

Well, that is the reason I am streaming using my xbox. My tv is upstairs, and my computer is all the way downstairs. Don't want the cable running all over the house.
