THE 1 and only Pioneer burner is on sale at meritline for $27 shipped. $3 cheaper than newegg.

Does this drive do everything that the kreon drives can do? Kreon was recommended in the 2008 textbook. Just wondering.

Also, what exactly is bitsetting and what do you have to do to perform bitsetting with either this drive or a kreon drive?

Oh yeah I just recognized your name; you're actually the person who gave me the link to the 2008 textbook. Thanks a lot. I read through the whole guide and am going to read through it again tomorrow.

If you don't mind answering a couple questions for me that would be great,

1. About the bitsetting (that in my above post)

2. What determines if it is safe to play backups online? Do you have to burn a backup a certain way. Or IS it safe to play backups online at all? From what I have seen, some people have said there is no guarantee, but it should be a yes or no answer.

The Pioneer is only for burning. You can't use it for creating backups as you can with the Samsung/Kreon.

If there's no guarantee, then obviously the answer is "no".
