It appears that this drive is actually a Lite-On drive that has been branded as a Sony drive. Sony does not have technical information on the drive. I read this information on another site. Here is a quote from the site:
Quote:
For those of you who are adventurous, the new firmware is available at: http://dhc014.rpc1.org/indexOEM.htm#DW-D22A. Get the BYS3 version. You also need the LtnFW Utility to perform the firmware update, available at http://upload.cdfreaks.com/ftools/LtnFW.zip.
I am not familiar with the drive myself, but I did see another listing about it with the same information. I hope this information helps.

if the firmware update doesn't fix the problem then the burner is shot.

consider buying a Pioneer optical drive if thats the case

Oh,well I dont think its toasted. Its still able to play DVD's Cd's.It just will NOT burn them, for anything.I also tried several of those ideas.

Firmwares I mean,Still same prob persists.

PS:This drive is a Piece of **** isnt it?...oh well **** Best buy lol

Edit:Able to go to 5% with Nero, but then it just sits there.
