psp 1.5, new firmware, noob help really appreciated!

Hi guys..this is my 1st post here, and i dont usually scream for help unless I have googled, read FAQ forums etc, but heres the deal..
I have an original,Fat firmware 1.50 psp, that already has dev hook installed by a friend on it for me.
what i want to do is run the new 3.90m33 type firm ware,so i can play the latest games.
my problem is..
1. how do i 'un-installl' dev hook
2. what do i do next to get the new firmware 3.90m33 onto my psp?
Is the 3.90m33 the best firmware to have?
please don't flame me :-)

unfortunately i dont know how to install dev-hook...but i do know how to install 3.90 M33. go to this site HERE
in order to install do these easy, noob friendly step by step guide:
step 1: download the file. (3.90 M33 release button at the top.)
step 2: drag and drop the UPDATE folder into the root of the memory stick. (where it says MP_ROOT,PSP,etc...)
step 3: exit out of USB mode
step 4: go to game, then memory stick, then choose 3.90 M33 installer, and let it run.
you will have to un-install devhook for this to work. like i said i dont know how, never used it before...
