I've pretty much posted this on every forum I can think of and still no resolution. Ok here goes. I purchased a Dynex 42" 1080p TV and wanted to use my PS3 with it through the HDMI inputs. When I attached the cable, I got picture but no audio. I figured it was the TV so I exchanged it and had the same exact issue. That's 4 HDMI inputs tested, and none of them output audio. So I thought "Ok maybe it's my PS3" so I took my PS3 and hooked it up via HDMI (the same cable) to my other Dynex and my Samsung HDTVs and it worked. Ok, so it's not the PS3 either. Maybe it really was the inputs. So I hooked up my HD cable box to the new Dynex via HDMI and...AUDIO AND VIDEO!!! WTH?? Now I am just totally confused. The PS3 works with all my TV's except the new one, and my new TV's HDMI inputs work with all my devices except the PS3! What in the world could possibly cause this?? Is there some setting somewhere I'm missing...please help!
you need to check to see if your new tv makes you set audio to hdmi. that seems to be the only thing that could be the problem. you need to bust out your tv manual and read on that part.
I thought this too, but its not that...because it works out of my cable box with no further settings required...i'm gonna just take my damn PS3 to best buy with my HDMI cable and have them hook it up and find out once and for all if its my PS3...makes no freakin sense...
uhm... did u by chance hook up the red and white rca cables to the hdmi section on ur tv? under the hdmi plug on the tv u might have two rca plugs red and white. plug in ur normal a/v cables to ur ps3 and plug the hdmi in. use the audio cables from the a/v and the hdmi.
I don't see any RCA plugs under my HDMI :( Geez, is optical the only way to do this!? I don't wanna have to buy a receiver and a surround sound just to get audio...:(
