i am using this guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2divx_anamorphic.cfm to rip pirates of the caribbean and i am stuck on the step that says wave to mp3. i go to the convert menue but i cant find the WAV -> MPEG thing. what am i doing wrong?
You Probably do not have a Mp3 codec installed...Try this one :
http://mitiok.free.fr/lame-3.95.1.zip Then you should Find the Setting you are looking for..You can allways use a seperate program to encode the audio to MP3 Or if you used a slightly different method you could have Kept the Dolby Digital AC3 audio from the Original DVD...The guide you are following is Needlessly Complicated and useing Old Converting methods But hey I guess it works...Cheers
thanks. ya the directions are really long and difficult. if you know of anybetter way id apreciate it. they are ripped of the dvd and still in dvd form. so if you know of any better or shorter way, id lover you forever ;)
If all you want to do is Make a Divx file out of the VOB files then it is pretty easy and uses simular method that are in the Manual you are following...the easies t way would be to use DVD2AVI to make your AVI file and to Demux the AC3 audio and then to use AVI-Mux to mux the AC3 and the AVI/Divx video file together and that is it...So First Run DVD2AVI then Load your VOB files into it like the Guide says ,then do all of the Setting the same as the Guide accept under "Audio" to "Dolby Digital" set it to "Demux" Not decode...Now go to "File" to "Save AVI" and give your File a name and save it and then a little screen will pop up were you choose your Compression codec, Just Go through the codec List untill you get to the codec you want Like the "DiVx" or "XviD" codecs and set up your bitrate, For a Full resolution DivX file a bitrate of About 1200 to 1500kbs will produce very good Quality ,After you have set up your codec click "OK" and it will encode the Files to DivX...After it is Finnished it will leave you with an AC3 audio file and an AVI/DivX Video file, Now you just have to Multiplex the DivX Video and the AC3 audio together into a single File, You can use a Simple Program called "AVI-Mux" for this, You can download it here :
http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~noe/Video-Zeug/AVIMux%20GUI/AVI-Mux_GUI-1.16.zip Just Run it and then Load the AC3 file and the AVI file into it and then choose an output directory and then click "Start" and in a Few Minutes you will have a DivX AVI file with Dolby Digital audio...Cheers
im having another problem. when i get to the decoding it to a dvx format. it says: After this, go to Dolby Digital menu and select Decode. it shows how to do it in the picture and everything, but my version is different than theirs and i dont have all the options they have. do i need a previous version or somtning?
You Probably need DVD2AVI 1.76 or 1.77.1 ,These are the best versions..It was one of the Only Programs I have ever heard of that Got worse when new versions came out...Cheers
i cant seem to find a place that lets me dl it. all the places either bring me to their site, in which i can only find the 1.77.3 version. by anychance do u kno were i can find the older versions?
ok, i did all the and converted it...but now their is now sound... it plays music, and all that , but i cant hear them speak or anything. what am i doing wrong.lol
ok. I combine the AVI and the AC3 audio into one. when i did this the end ressualt would not play. i can get it to play the movie but not the sound. so then i tryed buring the other audio file i had which was the music from the selection screen. so my problem now is, taht when i combine the AC3 and the AVI their is no sound( the music was a mess up)
