Hello everyone...

k i just got a new PSP and have it updated and everything with System Software Version 3.73. (this is on the new slim and light PSP). I have a couple of UMDs but i am sick of buying such expensive UMDs. I have been able to download some game files in the .rar format...which i have converted to ISO using WinRAR. I have read in other threads about putting the ISO files in an ISO folder, but it doesn't exist on the memory card i have associated with the console.
Could anyone please tell me what all i need to do as simply as possible (I'm no programmer..I just want to play the ruddy games!). Is it as simple as just creating an ISO folder like the MUSIC and VIDEO folder??? if yes, where do i create it and in what character/case? If no, do i have to put a different software version or install some specail thing on my PSP??? What are the risks? can modifying my PSP like this damage it? is it possible to recover if any unwanted problem occurs?

I know these are a lot of questions...but this thread is useful to alot of us who have totally no idea about these things!!!

THANX EVERYONE

right to play iso files you will need to install cfw.

to do this you will need to use pandoras battery and a magic memory stick

use this guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

id say its best to buy a ready made pandoras battery called a datel tool battery there about £15 which is a small price to pay.

one you get to cfw then its as simple as just making a iso folder in the root of the memory stick.

risks are very low. basicly it can case a brick which can be revived by using the guide i gave you above.

the thing that could utter it un usable would be if you messed up the id storage/nand but iv never heard of any cases of this happening.

hope that helps you out.

Hey...Thanx for the reply...im sure it should work out...but what is a Pandoras battery? running a google search hasnt exactly made it clear.

Isn't there also some other way to easily put PSP games on your hard drive without the need of buying a new battery or programming the PSP and memory stick? why i say so is because ive heard about some underground markets where all you need to do is give them your memory stick and they will simply put your desired game on it in 5 min.!!! I dont know how they do this but they take only about US$2!!!. I have not been able to contact them..and i guess it wont be very easy taking out this information from them...as obviously that means they will run out of business!!!

Will post as soon as i found out...thanx alot fo this help though!!! it has made me aware of something more about the PSP!

wow your getting me confused now lol

right ill give you a run down of everything.

pandoras battery basicly if your going to buy one then all you need to do is then set up the mms if your going to make one then you will need to change the value of the eeprom in the battery so that the battery makes the psp boot from the memory stick and not the flash0.

for the magic memory stick this is simply a normal memory stick that has files on it that will alow you to install cfw, downgrade (slim it doesnt matter to much) or install ofw.

if you follow the guide i linked then making the mms will be a breeze (as long as you have xp and not vista)

for the games you can get lots of backups off forum type site like pspiso.com (not afterdawn) and torrents are also a good source for backups.

simply download them to your hdd and then put the .iso file into the iso folder.

with cfw you can also run homebrew aplications if you want to like emulators and many other intreseting things.
