Xbox 360 has sound but no video....PLEASE HELP

I have had my 360 about 2 years never had a problem until about a month ago. Playing Assasins Creed the screen went blank, sound was still there just no picture. I have tried different TVs and new cables but still no picture. Called Microsoft but they cant help because my box has been opened. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am about to just smash it!! Thanks

um, its sounds like your wire's. But since you said you've tried new one's....im not sure. Dang, when you opened your 360 you didnt save the warrenty? That was your first wrong move...I mean you could buy one for $20-30. But im not sure what will happen. If you still had the warrenty you could rrod it. But as for fixing it.....im lost.

Sounds like GPU over heat. If you keep trying- turn on and off... Does it give you RROD?

I have been messing with this machine for seriously about a month..on and off...open it... messing with the xclamps... checking solder points but no rrod. Its about to go out the window!!

ok before you throw it out the window here a bit of info ive repaired a few of these and yes it can be caused by over heat but not all the 360 uses a scaler chip as it wasnt true hd to start with(im asuming it doesnt have hdmi) that ana/hana chip is cheap and nasty and could be the cause also the cost of this repair from ms is around £60 with a turn around time of 7 to 10 days in the uk but beware they are puttin the new liteon drives in them which i beleive can not be flashed as yet but if anyone has any info on the new drive please share it

I too have had my 360 for just over two years and in that time I have expierenced the ring of death three times. MS covered it under warranty, first time three days without my 360, second three weeks and the third was just over month. All that asside I now have no warranty and no picture, I've tried new AV cables and different TVs can someone please help me too fix this as microshaft want to charge $140 and won't garranty a fix.

answer to above it could be the ana/hana scaler chip or simply the x clamp over the gpu not seating correctley try the x clamp method first and if not looks like an ms repair as i mentioned above the one i sent to ms came back with a whole new motherboard and drive for £60 over in the uk only prob is its the lite on drive
