This week's sale at Best Buy, plus discount coupon, plus manufacturer rebate puts final price for Gold at $50.

I know that ONE of the reasons that Shrink and Decryptor are popular here is because they are free.

If you could buy Gold for $50 and you had the fifty to spare, would you then choose it over the freeware?

The reason I ask is that I'm a newbie and my concern is "will I pull less of my hair out with a package like Gold than with the other software when trying to get it to work?". Does $50 bucks buy me ease of use and peace of mind?

P.S. From what I have read on this site, I would still have to shell out $$$ for Nero or another DVD creator, correct? If I go with the Gold, that would be all that I have to spend, correct?

no i wouldn't buy gold for $50. I have xcopy and xpress and would gladly sell them if i could get a taker. DVD Shrink and a burning program (recordnow max $30) work much better. you can check out burnatonce which is free (only works with -r)

I would not buy it either (and I already own it).
After finding more limitations than I cared for, I
now use DVD Decrypter v3.1.9.0 which can be
downloaded for free from:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/
dvd_rippers/

and Pinnacle Instant Copy 8 which can be purchased
for $24.00 from:

http://www.thenerds.net/productpage.asp?un=184823&s=6

I first Decrypt the movie to a folder on my hard drive then using the Copy Main Movie Only feature of Instant Copy 8, I write the movie to a DVD-R.
