Hi, My friend recently lent me her miniDV camcorder and 2 miniDV tapes, with a combined length of 2 hours of footage, which she wanted me to capture, edit, add and remove scenes, add text and special effects, and finally author it into a dvd. I downloaded a variety of programs (trials), including Sony Vegas, Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2, Ulead DVD Workshop, Ulead VideoStudio 7, and I also have Windows Movie Maker.
I've never done anything like this before, but I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing wrong, and how to fix it...
When I capture the video in any of the programs above using any format, dvdvcdmpegdv, the quality is crap and the size of the movie (the resolution) is really small, when I make it 640 x 480 (which still is nowhere near big enough) it plays at about 1 fps. The audio echoed several times (if i hit the desk near the microphone, you'd hear the "hit" sound repeat as it faded out) So you ask, do I have a capture card or firewire? No, neither, I used usb, and this is probably why I'm getting crap results, but the SD Card can still take photos, and this brings me to what else I need to do with this camera...
If I take some photos with the sd card and camera and transfer to computer with usb cable (tried it, quality isn't the best but it's good enough) is there anyway I can have various slideshows with background music, an ANIMATED background, captions for the images (in text), voice-overs, background music for the menus and NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons to move to each different slide in the slideshow, oh and credits too? Which program can do this the best, that I havn't mentioned above, because I'm really wanting an animated background I've seen it somewhere before, a program that offers a gallery of backgrounds in avimpeg format and you can use it, it's royalty free, cant remember where it was though.
I would've bought a capture cardfirewire card but I dont wanna pay that when I'm only gonna use this camera once, and I dont own a camera.
Thanks for your suggestions, any ideas appreciated.
