hi all, i did a search, and looked around, but didn't find anything. has anybody else had any problems ripping the 4400 season #4? i'm using ripit4me, and in dvd decrypter, it gets to 99% and gives me an error "failed to read sector - logical address out of range". the disk is new and doesn't looked scratched. anyway i'm not sure if it's the disk or what? i tried anydvd (which i have purchased), and it says my dvd drive is not ready (no matter how long i wait). i've tried shrink with anydvd running in the background, i've also tried ripit4me, with anydvd running, and i still get the same error with dvddecrypter.
this is what happens when i run ripit4me, with dvd decrypter, i get the error above, i've tried ignore (doesn't work), then finally abort. it then goes to the next step in ripit4me (i think it's pgcedit? - i forget), well the file size goes from about 7.5gbyte, to like 800k in like 10-20 seconds.
now, i've got it ripped, and am burning a copy to see if it worked or is missing anything.
this is what i did: ripit4me, dvddecrypter (same error as above), abort, cancelled pgcedit?, ran fixvts, then shrink.
fyi, i'm running xp. and as of right now, i'm on the latest version of anydvd (the one that fixed rambo). any ideas?

i've had no problems with any other versions either, i was always able to use ripit4me, like i always do. anyway, i already did d/l DVDFab HD Decrypter 5.0.3.0, earlier today, but haven't installed it yet. i'll probably check it out later, if this didn't work. thx,
oh, and season 4 came out a few weeks back here in the states. ;)

well, disk 2 did the same thing (errored at 99%). i've captured some screenshots, but would it be better if i posted the logs? i'll try disk #3 tomorrow. just busy doing alot of stuff, and trying to save some h/d space. either way, i'll have to do it tomorrow.
fyi, i burned 3 out of 4 episodes (2nd try), and they seem fine (the way i did it). i burned 2 disks prior to this one, which my player said they were bad. but, it turns out my dvd player bit the dust, so that through me off as well (thought it was bad burns). luckily i used "rw's" for my test. peace out all...

ok, as mentioned disk #1, and #2, both errored out at 99% in dvddecrypter. anydvd would not work at all (drive was never ready). i just installed DVDFab HD Decrypter 5.0.3.0, and it errored out on scanning the disk as well. at this point, i'm just telling you all what all i did to get it to work.
"this is what i did: ripit4me, dvddecrypter (same error as above), abort, cancelled pgcedit?, ran fixvts, then shrink."
as of right now, i've only view 3 out of the 4 chapters (of disk 1), and they seem fine. i'm pretty sure the 4th chapter is fine (as the file size is about the same). i'll check it out later on tonight, as well as checking out disk #2.
update - wierd thing just happened. after installing dvd fab, rebooting, trying to rip dvd and it failed. i happened to try anydvd, so that i can get an error log, and it finally scanned the disk. i thought kewl, maybe it will rip it now. well, it got to 99%, and failed. i decided to try disk #2, and the same thing happened (at 99%). anyway, i'll post my logs, and i'm gonna shot slysoft, an e-mail, as i have those anydvd error logs for them.

Just in case i'm reading you right, don't run AnyDVD and DVDFab together, only ever one or the other at a time.
Also, have you got a normal dvd-rom to use for ripping ?. i have many drives to use for ripping, mostly burners, but i use an old dvd burner for ripping sometimes, and it doesn't always rip/doesn't always detect there's a disc in the drive. a dvd-rom will rip forever more (mine is quite a few years old in fact, it's never had a single problem ripping anything)

ok, no i did not run anydvd and dvdfab together. the only drive in the comp right now, is a dvd burner. i could understand if i had problems with only 1 disk, but both of them errored out at the same spot. i'll check out what disk #3 does later on. i sent anydvd an email. so we'll see what happens
