Hi everyone, sorry to have to ask for help on my first post but I'm really pissed at my PSP and life >=(
I was playing Monster Hunter 2 and just about to beat a mission when my PSP just suddenly shuts down. It had full batteries and was plugged into a wall charger. When I turned it back on it was back at the home menu, and it wouldn't read my UMD. There were not really any wierd noises, just the noise of the PSP trying to read the UMD I think.

After about 30 seconds, it just said "The disc cannot be read". I am running 3.90 m33-3 custom firmware, and haven't dropped my PSP or anything like that...what could be wrong??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry for posting again, but here are some more details.
I tried other UMD games, and none of them could be read.
I tried turning UMD autostart on/off, didn't work either way.
I tried taking the battery out.
My PSP is about a year old. I bought it in Asia, but now I'm in Canada so I doubt I can get it replaced.
Sometimes it tries to read the disc, sometimes it just immediately says "The disc could not be read".

Thanks guys.

try this its likely not to work but its worth a shot.

if you loosen the little silver screw at the bottom of the psp slightly and see if that help.

also try filer5.1 or the built in umd ripper and see if it will read them through that.

also try loosen/tightening some of the screw on the umd drive (bit of a last resort)

also try cleaning the laser lens with a cotton but of a screen cleaning clouth.

have you tried any other umds in the drive?

you could also try reflashing the fw with pandoras

also use key cleaner and see if that helps clean up some of the id storage

thats about all that i can think of just have a try at some of thoughs and see if any help

Thanks, I'll try those things...but I'm wondering if it's because I always leave a UMD in the PSP and never take it out? Would that cause damage to the PSP over time?
