subtitles change aspect ratio in MKV

I downloaded 2 different subtitles formats, sub and srt, loaded them into ffdshow while the mkv video was playing and it loaded into the video fine, except it changed the aspect ratio so that it could fit at the bottom of the screen. I'm using Zoom Player btw.

Is there a way to get the subtitles to load ontop of the video instead of at the bottom so that it doesn't alter the aspect ratio?
