Matrix Infinity problem; burned game doesn't play

I just tried playing a burned game on my modded V9 PS2, though I keep getting errors even though I'm using DVD-R discs and burning them at no more than 4x speed using Nero. The game in question is Berserk Millennium Falcon. I've tried burning it with different speeds and even different discs (DVD+R) but it states everytime that "This disc cannot be played". Is there something wrong with the installation of the chip, or do I still need something else (like Swap Magic) even though the mod should take care of regional restrictions on DVDs? I know I sound awfully like a complete newb and this has probably been discussed thousand times before but I haven't found anything similar to my case yet since I guess it is way too basic of a problem.

EDIT// Also, it has the latest firmware installed, and seems to run all the other games just fine, do I have fake or have I just overlooked something?

I do not remember much about the Matrix chip. However i think it didnt come preloaded with a firmware.
