If youve got it tore open and are testing the fan you might as well sup it up a bit. Hook the fans up to a 12v point for improved cooling or jump one of the resistors that will 12v the fan without any wires just a dot of solder.
With the multimeter I mean do i leave fans pluged in and turn xbox on and put the positive handle on the board and the negative into the negative wire on the fan. Lol im not sure what to do.
Was thinking about doing the 12v to fans, but i read somewhere that ppl say you can get banned for having 12v fan? IDK if thats true or not. Anyways atm I got it hooked to an external usb port fan, still having heat issues, think im gonna try the X-clamp fix see what it does if it;ll fix anything.
Did the X-clamp fix, that old heatsink was nasty and it was everywhere, cleaned it all off applied "White freeze thermal Compound" to both Cpu, and GPu units, put it all back together turned it on and got an E74 error... So I took it all back, cleaned off the new heat sink, reaplied new stuff put it back together again, now The 3 green lights dont even spin around the xbox, The wireless controll turns the xbox on, but the green lights around the circle dont show up on the xbox, the dvddrive is spinning, fans are on, nothing shows up on the tv screen, about 30-40 secs later 3 red lights around the xbox. Took it back apart cleaned reaplied heat sink, put back together still same thing as just above. I have no idea what is going on. Was thining of getting this...
comes with everything i need to do the x-clamp but im not sure if it will make a difference, any advice? Or should I just junk this, before I did the X-clamp, could still get onto a game for a min before it would give me 2 red lights, then after i got fans running could play a little longer, but still 2 red lights, then thats when i decided to do the x-cllamps to see if it needed new thermal paste, looked to me like it did. SO any info would be great thanks.
ive got two boxes, one acts pretty close to how yours does. If I overheat it, im guessing it reflows the solder and it works for a bit but the run time keeps getting shorter and shorter. Another motherboard is probally the most cost effective way of fixing it. I would put the xclamp kit money towards another motherboard. If your case isnt messed up send that beast back to microsoft
OK gonna give this another shot applying less this time lol. Oh and SourD where do i go to get a new mobo for my xbox? Its a samsung ms28 (flashed of course)
