psp keeps getting regular 'black outs'!

my psp keeps a black screen sometimes when i exit a game or application. holding the power switch does resolve the problem but its annoying to have to do it most of the time when i want to return to the XMB. any suggestions?

Maby its the battery? how long did you have your current battery? I only recomend PSP battery packs.On the 2nd hand something might be wrong with the AC adapter. Dissconect the wire and clean it with a cotten swab! Problem 3 could be that the wires in the charger is messed up. I put a PDVD chrger in my psp and it wouldn't start up!

P.S: PDVD=portapul DVD and my psp came to work fine!

it could be the battery, i had it since 2005. so it could be just age. but the ac adapter's perfect (i guess). thanxs for ur reply.
