Hi I have a few games that I want to backup (onamusha 1,2,3,4) I am a big fan and would like to keep these around for as long as possible. I am late to the ps2 scene and I wanted to know if I could play backups with out doing any moding to my ps2. I have heard it is possible to use a boot disk or something but that I would need to get my ps2 shell moded to a flip top. If this is true is there a way around it? Any info would be great please keep in mind I am new to this. Thanks in advance
You're going to have to mod your PS2 in some sort of way.. I hate to tell you it :(
It'll go from the HDLoader (look up the forums for info on that.. im not an expert on it), to a modchip (Which you may be able to have installed by a local store if you live close to a place that does that..), or a fliptop + Swap magic (My choice..)
Its all going to run you about $30, at the LEAST.
After you pick out what you're going to do and order it, then you'll need a program called Alcohol 120% to copy the games ISO, and then burn it onto another DVD/CD (And quality matters at this point.. read up on DVD/CD backup quality for that info).
If you are a bit tech savvy and can get your hands on the right tool(s), then the PS2 Fliptop mod would be great, especially if you have a slim PS2.. it makes it easier. Else you could give the HDLoader a try but I think that one costs the most, next to a high end modchip lol.
You can use ur friend's modded ps2 to mod ur memory card so that u can boot ur ps2 without using any DVD's anymore...
U can read this page for more info,,,
