I was able to access the internet using the wireless connection in my cousin's house, but when I got back to my place, I cannot use the internet on it anymore. My cousin brought over his PSP to see what was up, and his works fine. I do in fact have a wireless router (so it's not that I don't have an access point) and I have all the WEP codes, etc.
I've done several different things, and depending on how I set up my connection settings, two different things happen.
1) "Communication with the server failed. A DNS error has occurred. (8041040F)" appears when trying to access Google (using Google as default site to test connection).
2) After connecting to the access point, it fails to "obtain IP address", saying that it "timed out".
I can provide any information (IP address, DNS, etc.) needed to solve this problem, I just need someone to tell me step by step how to use the internet on my PSP.
I'm using the new God of War edition PSP, with system software ver. 3.9.
I set up the IP address, DNS, and default router manually (I have all the right ones, too).. and now there is only one problem. I fail the Internet Connection test. After testing connection, this is what the results come out as:
Connection Name Home
Signal Strength 100%
SSID NETGEAR
BSSID 00:13:6C:15:84:C6
Channel 11
Security WEP
IP Address 192.168.1.3
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Router 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS 192.168.1.1
Secondary DNS 0.0.0.0
MAC Address 00:1F:3A:9E:FE:8B
Proxy Server Do Not Use
Internet Browser Do Not Start
Internet Connection Failed
Sorry for double and triple posting, but I can now connect to the access point, the problem is with the DNS.
"Communication with the server failed. A DNS error has occurred. (8041040F)" is now the definite problem that is keeping me from connecting to the internet via the wireless connection in my house. How do I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
