I would like to backup some of my DVD's. I have downloaded DVD Cloner V but have been unable to get the burned disks to play. They will play for so long and then freeze up. Any suggestions on what to do or any suggestions on any software that copies well

I don't use that program, but from the little info you've given i'm guessing it could be more than just the program you're using.

Blank media is a huge facet of good quality backups. Use the good stuff. Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Burn at 6x to 8x, and don't multi-task.

I'd ditch Dvd Cloner V for some better proggies. See this thread for your best options software wise.

A good freeware method:

Rip with DvdFab Hd Decrypter

Process with FixVts (cleans it up a bit)

Transcode with Dvd Shrink

Burn With ImgBurn.

Thanks for the info. The movie also froze up when it ripped it to my hard drive. Will try the programs you mentioned.

So far so good with the DVDFab. I have been using that to rip it and my roxio media to burn. Works perfectly on my computer & seems to be ok on my dvd player. Had problem burning "Night at the Musuem" due to space issues on a 4.7MB disk. Will buy some duel-layer dvd's and see how that goes. Any suggestions on the best place to purchase those.

Thanks for all the other info!

For Dual Layer burning.

Use Imgburn as your burn engine, and Verbatim DL blank media. You'll find this is the most recommended method for dual layer burns.

EDIT:

and my roxio media to burn.
I'd skip using Roxio and get Imgburn. Roxio can be conflicting and troublesome.

Imgburn is the best burn engine out there IMO...and it's free.
