I work for a small mom & Pop PC shop, we work with all operating systems and we try really hard to promote linux adoption, but most of our repairs are Windows systems and we usually use XP for working in windows systems. We have 2 dual booting linux/windows PC's in store for repairing purposes.

I was ask to figure out a way to make our "Data Backup Process" Easier, Mainly Because We've been getting an increased number of clients with tenths of GB's (we've had a few with hundreds of GB's worth) of data to Backup in store. Now most of this clients are reluctant to Buying an external HDD. We need a software that Organizes/Resizes the folders as this is VERY time consuming.

For example We usually record them on to DVD so It would have to let me cap the folder size at 4gb while Hopefully keeping the folder structure on the other 4bg backup folders. Without compressing the files and just re-organizing them.

I Suggested the splitting option on 7z with no compression (as 7z is not only free but also a great program) but we are trying to have it so that the client doesn't have to install anything to access his backed up files, and to keep possibility of file corruption as low as possible. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks before hand

i never heard of any program that sorts and resizes your folders to 4 gb. I noe about the 7z but you need the program to put them back together. I also know about winace that creatates .part files but you also need winace to put them back together.

If you mean to backup only personal files, then your best bet is to organize their files yourself and burn them to dvd.

Now if you dont want to worry about organizing, why not just backup the computer. I remember doing mine and all i had to do was pop in the dvd's when it asked me. Not only will you back up their OS but you will aslo meet the customer's wants. Doing a whole pc backup is usefull since they will have a copy of their pc to install from in case their pc crashes and looses data.
