I am sure this question was asked before, but I couldn't find it. When I burn my mpeg-1 to VCD it turns out fine, but as time goes on in the VCD the picture turns to crap. It gets all blocky and Audio starts to have high pitches. The first 10 mins of American Pie is pretty good, but then after that it starts to turn into total crap.
I don't know what to do, I followed the guide and did everything to get this thing right. Like said, on the computer the image is perfect, couldn't get any better, but then at the playback on the DVD player...it gets bad. In fact the picture gets worse and worse. It starts out with a blocky frame here and there then it gets totally aweful. I am burning with Nero (cracked). Please help, because I am about to give up....is it TMPGEnc because I read on here that it doesn't do too good on Audio and stuff. Please help a man out, and post a reply...it will be greatly appreciated.
Well, you've come to the right place. Nothing like being in the middle of a movie, and suddenly, it's all screwy, eh? I have personal experience with this problem. You must burn all VCD and SVCDas slow as your burner will allow to ensure quality playback. You'll see numerous references to this fact in this forum, such as on this thread:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/49761 2x would be the ideal speed, but the lowest I can select in Nero is 8x, and that has eradicated the problem completely for a long time running. If you still experience playback problems, it could possibly be a problem with your media, though the speed tweak should do the trick. Good Luck!
I want to thank you Matt for your help, I got it figured out. It was the media I was using. I wonder though if I burned the cheap cds at 1x, then wonder if they would play like my memorexs right here in my hand. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
Yes indeed, but I would probably rather buy new decent cdr's then wait on 1x burns! Anyway, glad to hear you got it figured out. No more (or at least fewer) coasters!
Many of the newer burners do actually have a minimum write speed. My Lite-On LTR-24102B has a minimum record speed of 8x for CDR's! (I can go slower for RW's, down to 2x.) I thought there might be some software that might allow you to force it to do what you want, but after researching prior posts on this topic and doing some google searches, it appears that is not the case. I read something about Nero Express allowing a slower speed, but that isn't the case for me, but it wouldn't hurt to check. Guess it's good media from here on out, eh?
I guess so, but I really hate to waste all 300 of these crap cds. My burner actually can write at 1x because I did look it up, problem is though finding a 1x program that will burn my VCDs.
