I'm currently on 3.95 gen 2 but I messed with the flash0 files. Woops, hehe. All is not lost, it's semi-semi-bricked. I can boot to xmb and even play games and everything. problem is, if I leave the memory stick highlighted for too long under any category be it video, photo, game, the psp freezes and then shuts down after a couple of seconds. I can go into recovery and everything but I'm not sure what to do. I don't have a pandora battery, either. I've tried reinstalling 3.95 gen 2 by following the instructions but it won't reinstall as it thinks 3.95 is correctly installed ( it says "new modules already installed" or something like that). Is there a way to bypass the module check to force the update?

you need to re install 3.95 GEN the -2 is a update so it only updates like 3 or 4 files in the flash0 it doesnt totaly reflash the psp thats why the thing come up and says its already go the UPDATED moduls installed

so try that its likly to work

I tried installing the original 3.95 gen firmware and the installer once again said: you already have the latest modules

Thanks for the link, looks good but there's a slight problem. It mentions that having any theme enabled on the psp may cause a brick. The thing in the first place that semi-bricked mine was probably a theme pack thing I copy and pasted into the flash0 folder. I deleted and replaced with a backup what I could but I'm sure I did not get everything. So I'm on the original theme now, psp reset to defaults, memory stick formatted by the 3.95 cfw already on there but I don't want to risk a brick. What do you think? Should I just get the psp re-flashed by a local guy that has a pandora setup? Already cost me 20, now it will be 20 more! Heh, what you get for being an idiot I suppose.

Anyway, so when they say to disable all themes, does that mean getting rid of all theme files and having your original flash0 files or does it just mean to disable the themes in the XMB?

right its advised i have done it with a custom theme before

if you want to be sure do the pandora battery maker first this means the battery will be pandoraized before anything starts

then do the next steps if you find it bricks half way through making the memory stick or when you installing the cfw you still have the pandoras battery ready to use. so then just make the mms on the computer its safe to do it that way.

the chance of a brick from that is very low it would only have a problem with the theme anyway so it should infact cause a semi brick not a brick but im not to sure on that
