Hi,

I have a couple of questions regarding the best settings to use with Nero Recode 3.

I am trying to convert my DVDs of old TV shows (The Twilight Zone, Mary Tyler Moore etc.) into MP4s so that I can store them on a media center PC for easy access. I select Nero Digital and Nero Digital AVC and deselect fit to target by default. When I import a file Nero almost always selects a bitrate of about 1.1-1.3 Mbps. I uncheck the resize check box and set the encoding precision to Best.

I mostly get results that I cannot distinguish from the originals with these settings. The only exception is The Twilight Zone which sometimes produces jerky videos. This is corrected by checking the Motion Adaptive tick box under frame rates.

My questions are as follows:

Are there recommended settings I can use for old TV shows on DVD?

Why does The Twilight Zone (the oldest of the shows and in Black and White) produce jerky videos unless I click Motion Adaptive (there is no high speed motion in the scenes with problems).

I am going to be viewing these files on a 1080p HD screen. Should I leave the resize option off or resize them to 1080p? It seems to make more sense to resize them to 1080p since the computer that does the encoding will devote a lot of processing power and time to the process. If 1080p rescaling option is selected how should I change the settings such as video quality?
