Can't play burned DVDs. I could before.

Here's the problem. I can't play DVD burned on my comp on my DVD player. I used to be able to. But all of a sudden the disks are readable only on the computer. My DVD player just says "disc error".

I'm using the same comp, the same burner, the same software (nero, dvd shrink, avs), the same dvd player and even the same stack of blank DVDs.

I've tried reinstalling the burner and drivers. I tried reinstalling nero. I've restored my comp to a previous day. I deleted any recently added software. I've burned 20 some odd bad discs now and I just can't figure it out.

Try them on another player.
What brand name discs are they?
Have you tried cleaning the laser lens?

Tried them on my Son's DVD player. still doesn't play.
They are Dynex discs.
Tried cleaning the lens. It reads fine. It reads the DVDs that won't play on the player. Same results with the other burner on my comp.

Hi. My name is sluggovw and I'm an idiot.

Cleaned the lens on my player (and my sons). Reads fine now. Funny that it read other DVDs though.

Glad you got it sorted out, but:

For the best quality backups, there's better media available. Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are highly regarded media for burn quality and longevity.
