Ok to update a modded Xbox360?

Hi There,

I have just tried to play a backup copy of a game, and upon loading it tells me that the xbox360 needs an update in order to play.

Am I ok to do this as my xbox has been previously modded? I am just worried I will turn it into a brick!

Alone in the dark....

Its a system update I guess as its in the standard xbox branding, but the panel slides in from the right...

Could it be a dodgy burn and its trying to play it as a movie dvd perhaps, or do games get released with updates on?

I have a friend who has a modded xbox and he always updates his console when a game needs it. It hasn't turned into a brick and problably won't. Microsoft only bans modded xboxes, they won't make them unusable.
