I am ripping my DVD collection using DVD Decrypter, DGIndex, VFAPICodec, VirtualDub, and VirtualDubMod so I can play them on my PS3 via a media-server running TVersity...

I am encoding with XviD, 2-passes, target-size = 3Gb, and AC3 5.1 Surround-Sound.

I watched my first ripped film tonight, and hit a problem. It got to 1h 21m and the film bombed out with the error "cannot play content".

I tried the film again, and it bombed at the same place. I then fast-forwarded the film past the "problem area" and the film played fine after that, but then it lost surround-sound and just played in stereo for the rest of the movie (total 1h 47m).

I tried another film, and the sound goes to stereo at 1h 16m, but does not actually bomb-out though!

So, is the PS3 hitting a problem with a 3Gb film-size with surround-sound?

The PS3 is on the latest software version, so it should not have the 2Gb limit!

I have not yet tried the films on my PC as I have just shut my media-server down for the night...

Has anyone else experienced the same sort of problems? Are my film-sizes too big? I wanted to rip my DVDs keeping good quality picture & sound.
