It is cheaper but the intercoolers suck air out of the machine and a household fan will blow air in.

All you have to do is turn the household fan backwards and it will blow the air out not in.Its a cheap method that probably works,but I never used it so I can't really give an opinion on it.I think either way you go the more air flow the better,but you have to position it right or it won't do you any good.
It doesn't matter what you do to it, if you have the non-Falcon, you're gonna get the RROD eventually. I used a regular fan, used the vertical cooling fan, never played more than 2 hours and mine got the RROD twice.
as i stated i already had prod i am just trying to baby the rest of the life out of it thats all. thanks for all the input i just used the cheap rite-aide fan i had bought a couple of weeks ago while doing the x-clamp fix.
I have had my first console since January of last year, and the second one for about 8 months. So far so good. My first one does have the talsimoon fan, the elite is stock.
What helps me i think is the fact that i keep my house at a nice cool 75 degrees year round because i have a lot of electronics, which of course do not like heat and also give off a lot of heat.
