I want to know if there's anyway to mod my PS2 just using an MC Exploit (Free Vast).

Here's what I do have:

1 Modded PS2(DMS4 Lite), which works perfectly

1 Unmodded PS2 with a broken laser (The One I wish To Mod)

1 8MB Mem. Card

1 BroadBand/HDD Adapter for FAT PS2's

2 40GB HDD's I could use with some HD Loader

Is there anyway to get the unmodded PS2 with broken laser up and running? I've been reading that the new Fee Vast Exploits can use The MC with a USB thumbdrive to get homebrew running. I would like to learn more about the procedure, thank you.

YES you can! Using Free Vast (FMCB) because it DOES NOT NEED a trigger disc. Once Free vast is on your MC, you simply plug it in the PS2 and press the power button, it loads to it's menu, and from there you can navigate to HD or USB. It will play from both. Laser or not, it will work (It Won't play discs without a laser though).
For FAT and SLIM Ps2.

Any directions on the procedures?

I'm assuming I burn a DVD with the Free Vast ELF to get it into the memory card. How do I go about doing this? Do I need any specialized programs to compile an ISO? Then I use my modded PS2 with that burned DVD to get in into the memory card.

Finally I use that memory card on the PS2 with the broken laser? Do I need a USB Pen Drive or can it work with the HDD/BBA Combo?

My goal is to get some kind of HD Loader in there, since the laser is broken.

You can burn uLe to a disc

Put the BOOT folder on your usb device

Then run the burnt uLe , and select filebrowser/Mass if you have a usb device.

Look for the BOOT folder, select FREE_MCBOOT.ELF and launch it.

The memory card you install to needs to be formatted, then install.

So save any backups you want using uLe if you wish to your usb device or another mc.
Just select file, hit R1 to copy, browse to device you wish to save, select R1 and paste
