They sell in a store nearby my house a set of 5 4.5GB CD-R disc. Maxell, Sony and Fuji. I have data on my hard drive that I want to transfer to these disc for storage. As if it was another hard drive. I want to know what burning program has the ability to burn data to a disc this size? They do have the disc in this size 4.5GB, I saw it with my own eyes and I am ready to by them once this question is answered. It is not an error, I am not making this up. It is true. I say this because other sites can't believe this or haven't seen discs this size yet.Thank you!

That's a new one on me. Are you absolutely positive they are CD-R and not DVD-R? Is the capacity on the actual label of the disc or a store ad?

As far as I know it's not possible to fit 4.5GB on a CDR. CD burners aren't physically capable of it and CDR media isn't either.

Plextor has GigaRec technology for their Premium burner that can fit just under 1GB on a standard disc but this is pushing the limit of CDRs and can only be read in another Plextor Premium.

It's odd that the capacity is listed as 4.5 GB. Standard DVDs are listed as 4.7GB.

If you buy some, scan the label for the disc and post it or just go back and write down EVERYTHING on the label and post.

Sounds like a load of bull to me and somebody needs to be introduced to a baseball bat for it.

Actually I suspect he is telling the truth. Of course the product is mislabeled. What you are talking about are WORM drives/discs and you wont be able to use those discs on anything but WORM drives (which is why they never got off the ground much).

For those of you ready to argue with ME (hehe) head on over to http://www.maxellcanada.com/computer_prod/menu/catleaf.asp?cat1=Computer+Products&cat2=WORM+Optical+Disks&cat3=

jah711: buy the discs if they are cheap AND you have a WORM burner. Otherwise dont.
