I could unplug the 360 and turn it back on again. but after a few minutes I would get the 2 RROD again. xbox.com says it means the 360 is overheating due to decrease ventilation.
Solution: This worked for my laptop so I thought I'd give it a try on the 360 when I got the 2 RRODoom. Turn off the 360 and unplug all cables and power cord before doing this. Using a vacuum, I placed the tip of the hose on the vented areas of the 360 (top, bottom, sides, back and front, in all the holes and connectors) for 20 seconds. I worked the vacuum around those areas little by little. then I slided the tip of the hose on the areas again 10 times on all vented areas. After I was done I plugged the 360s power, video and ethernet cable, turned on the 360 and problem solved...2 RROD gone. its been 3 days now.
I place a cover on the 360 before I go to bed to prevent the dust from accumulating and I plan to vacuum the 360 twice a week...It's fans are quieter now
I glad that worked for you. But if you are using a standard vacuum cleaner please do not do that again. Standard vacuum cleaners produce electrostatic discharge, which can fry electronic equipment. They do make anti-electrostatic discharge vacuums, but i would recommend a can of compressed air.
